While completing my morning devotionals, I couldn’t focus. I was anxious, walking around my home without purpose. It felt ‘off’. I soon figured out that the Holy Spirit wouldn’t allow me to rest nor have peace.
Soon, to a declaration booklet titled, “Scriptures” written by Pastor Jon Purkey of Nexus Church located in Lenexa, KS. I flipped through it searching for a topic and landed on ‘Wisdom’. The first declaration scripture on the page captured my attention:
Proverbs 2:6 For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.
That scripture convicted and punched me hard in my spiritual gut! See, I’m an educator and writer: an educator since age 5 teaching my cousins to count and learn the alphabet and a writer since age 8. However, I had begun depending on Artificial Intelligence to rewrite my works because I was too impatient to edit and/or rewrite them myself. I used to ask the Holy Spirit to give me clarification and wisdom while I wrote. However, I succumbed to IID – Intellectual Impatience Disease.
This morning I was spiritually gut punched with the truth: only God gives real knowledge and understanding. I immediately repented. I asked the Lord for his forgiveness for being impatient, for leaning on artificial knowledge and understanding.
So, here I am returning to the original gift the Lord blessed me with by using my brain, handwriting drafts on a steno pad, and seeking the Lord for his wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. And guess what? It feels wonderful!
Will I use AI again? Yes, but far less frequently. I’m depending on the true Creator of knowledge and understanding, and nothing can substitute His love, mercy, and grace. So, I’ll no longer lean on my own understanding nor artificial understanding but on God’s understanding.
Proverbs 3:5-6 [5] Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; [6] in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
