At 8 years old, I fell in love with writing. My third grade teacher, Miss Brown, introduced our class to Japanese poetry called Haiku. I don’t remember my first haiku, but I immediately realized writing this simple, 3-lines, 5-7-5 syllables form gave me the voice I never had.
Innocence in bloom
She never thought could ever be
So free so wonderful
As years passed, I drowned my hurts, pains, sorrows, and tears in the flows of my pen’s ink. Some writings were sad and melancholy. Some told stories of laughter and joy. All told the realities of my existence. My journey has been a bumpy and sometimes treacherous one. However, there were many stop-offs filled with humor, laughter, love, and reconciliation. This website is my writing sanctuary, the place where I come to share with those willing to hear (read).
